Using Freescale PowerPC processor instead of Intel Atom.

Linkbook the creation of South African company Vodacom is a surprising netbook using Freescale PowerPC processor instead of Intel Atom. Linkbook is ready and offers the same functions as an Intel device. The Linkbook also offers a 3G modem, SIM card slot, 16GB of flash storage, and 256MB of RAM. It has an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel TFT screen, 2 USB ports, mic and headphone jacks and a camera.

The Linkbook will run on an open-source, Linux-based operating system. It will also come with several open source programmes pre-installed, such as the multiplatform and multilingual office suite Open Office. Pricing details have not been revealed yet.
